State Disclosures

As part of California’s requirements for unclaimed property recovery services, certain standard disclosures are provided to clients.

IAICP - CA FTB

California participates in the Interagency Intercept Collection Program (IAICP), administered by the Franchise Tax Board, which allows recovered funds to be applied toward certain outstanding debts owed to state or local agencies. These may include taxes, court‑ordered obligations, child support, or other qualifying liabilities. Barber Weisbruch is required to disclose that, if applicable, recovered amounts may be partially or fully intercepted through this program before disbursement to the claimant.

State Applied Withholding

Barber Weisbruch’s compensation is applied through a state‑authorized withholding, permitted under the California Code of Civil Procedure. This withholding is calculated as a percentage of the recovered amount, based on claim type, complexity, and value. The withholding is deducted directly from the recovery at the time of disbursement, as allowed by the State of California. Clients do not make direct payments to Barber Weisbruch—no out‑of‑pocket fees are incurred, and compensation is only collected upon successful recovery.

Document Requirements

In accordance with the Federal Privacy Act and applicable California regulations, certain documentation may be required to verify entitlement to recovered assets. This may include personal identification, corporate authorization, or financial records relevant to the claim. All documents are used solely for the purpose of processing the claim and are handled in compliance with federal and state privacy standards. Barber Weisbruch maintains strict safeguards to protect all information provided and does not disclose documentation except as required to complete the recovery process or as permitted by law.
